Our month of March at Pure Light Chiropractic is about setting our intentions, together, for a successful year. As planting seeds in your garden requires a tilling and preparation of the soil, so does planting seeds for ease and vitality in our lives. In order to ensure that we create what we want and deserve, we must first prepare the foundation.
This preparational foundation for more vitality is SELF-CARE. So, lets talk about the Whys and the Hows of self-care.
WHY:
We often hear how important self-care is to our well-being, but it’s far too common to treat it like sweeping the floors…we should probably do it everyday, but that sounds like a lot of extra work. Maybe the reason we can be so apathetic is because we don’t know how profound self-care can be for ourselves. Self-care is self-connection. It is about rediscovering the language your body speaks to you, and more importantly it’s about building a bridge from your highest purpose to the world you create around you. It’s how you begin to understand and provide for your own needs. It’s how you begin to make the right decision for yourself, effortlessly. It’s how you begin to seamlessly become the best version of yourself and live your life to its highest purpose. In short, it’s how you begin to live with Cosmic Ease.
HOW:
Now that you understand the philosophical purpose of self-care, here are some action steps with which to move forward:
- Exercise – Be open to listening to how your body wants to move; try different forms of motion. This is your time to check-in with your physical body and turn off the chatter of your mind.
- Meditation – This may be too broad a term because anything can be a mediation if your aspiration is correct. Everything from taking a walk, to sitting quietly, to coloring in a coloring book is meditation if your purpose is to simply be in the moment. Don’t be in the past, not in the future, be in the now…and let your random thoughts float away from your mind. One of the simplest and most profound ways to start this practice is during your morning routine. While you brush your teeth just think “I am brushing my teeth, I am brushing my teeth,” over and over. While you are showering think, “I am washing my arm, I am washing my face.” This a great way to feel the benefit of being in the now and not giving power to things that have already happened or things that have yet to occur.
- Get into Nature – Decompress from your day to day and technology by enjoying the simplicity that once housed and nurtured us all as a species. Check out Forest Bathing for more guidance in nature.
- Receive Bodywork – Whether Chiropractic, massage or anything in-between receive the care that someone else can provide. Being open to help from others is the quickest and easiest way to reconnect with yourself and to something even greater than yourself.
- Listen to Yourself – Don’t distract yourself from your feelings, don’t ignore or push down your feelings, experience them. Let your emotions wash over you until you know why they are happening, that is how they become wisdom.
Just as the wildflowers of Texas begin to bloom and usher in promise of the beauty that the months to come bring, we hope you share with us your vision for a beautiful and intentional future.
